HyFIBER is a low volume, carbohydrate-based liquid fibre ‘food for special medical purposes’ that contains 12g soluble fibre in each 30ml serving.
Made from polydextrose and fructooligosaccharides (FOS), which are derived from inulin, HyFiber is presented in a mild citrus flavour and is suitable for the dietary management of bowel transit disorders.
HyFIBER is ACBS approved, ready-to-use and can be taken orally without the need for pre-mixing; or administered via an enteral feeding tube as part of an enteral feeding regime.
HyFIBER is now ACBS approved for oral and enteral use!
Enables the user to easily meet their recommended daily intake of fibre, whether being enterally tube fed or eating orally. Ideal for fluid restricted diets.
Frutooligosaccharides bypass the small intestine, reaching the large intestine intact and forming short chain fatty acids which help to promote a healthy bowel.
No pre-mixing required. Can be taken neat, mixed easily into other foods or drinks, or administered down an enteral feeding tube without the risk of tube blockage.
Tastes good, helps compliance and makes oral consumption easier for the patient.
Easy for patients to use and health professionals to administer. Helps to support single or multiple dosing.
HyFIBER should be administered by a clinician or dietitian. Dosage is dependent on the age and medical condition of the patient. HyFIBER is a ready to use liquid and can be added without the need for pre-mixing, directly into hot or cold foods, drinks or supplements. HyFIBER can be administered with enteral tube feeds.
Dosage – It is recommended that the addition of HyFIBER to the diet should be gradually increased to meet individual requirements. Start with 30ml per day for one week, increase to 60ml a day in split doses if required. Bowel medication may need to be adjusted as the dose of HyFIBER is increased.
Enteral Tube Feeding – Flush feeding tube. Administer 30ml of HyFIBER via enteral feeding tube using a suitable enteral syringe. Once infused, flush tube and then continue enteral tube feeding as prescribed.

Typical situations where it may be necessary to add HyFIBER into the diet include when patients are not consuming the recommended amount of fibre from their normal diet; when patients are being enterally tube fed using a non-fibre containing enteral feed; or when a bowel transit disorder such as constipation or diarrhoea occurs, which can be managed by adjusting the patients’ nutritional intake.

We have been using HyFIBER with our tube-fed patients, who have been having issues with their bowels. We have seen that HyFIBER has been really useful and is easy for our patients to use.
I tend to use a lot of HyFIBER for patients with IBS who are struggling to increase their dietary intake of soluble fibre. I have had great results with this.
HyFIBER is possibly the best supplement available in recent years. Used as a stand-alone fibre supplement or alongside laxatives, this has massively helped to promote regular, predictable, softer stools in my patient groups. The taste and viscosity is great, and manageable for a lot of patient groups being a 30ml dosage; I use it mostly with children, with selective eating and small appetites (+/- dysphagia) when adequate fibre has not been possible to acquire though diet alone. I also use HyFIBER in tube feeds, particularly when the feed used doesn’t contain fibre. For many children this has eliminated the need for laxatives, for others, laxatives have been reduced. Knowing that this has been achieved by a dietary method and promotes my patient’s microbiome is reassuring.
